Bravo to Graduating SWOB Sitter, Isabella Whitehill!

Congratulations are also in order to Isabella Whitehill, who graduated from Northeastern with a degree in Architecture. For the last two semesters, Isabella provided childcare one night a week to Rosa Nin’s two children in their home in Jamaica Plain.

Isabella – or Izzy as the kids call her – grew up on the South Shore and was an avid babysitter. She worked at summer camps and taught Sunday School throughout high school. She volunteered throughout college as part of her scholarship requirement, but Sitters Without Borders “was by far the best volunteer experience I’ve had.”

“In many volunteer situations, you feel a degree of separation between what you are doing and the goal, but with SWOB, you can make a real, tangible difference for a family. It’s a simple idea – four hours of babysitting a week – but it makes a huge difference. I really enjoyed spending time with Rosa’s kids. With other volunteer situations, you can always cancel when you're busy, but in this situation people were depending on me and it was important to me to follow through.”

Izzy summed up the SWOB sitter experience like this: “I would highly recommend Sitters Without Borders to anyone who loves kids and wants to make a difference.”
